LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
I acknowledge that the Land I am working on is the Traditional Territory of many Nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, Anishinabewaki ᐊᓂᔑᓈᐯᐗᑭ, Haudenosaunee and Wendake-Nionwentsio.
I understand that Tkaronto consists of ceded lands covered in the Toronto Treaty 13 and the Williams Treaties, but also unceded lands that are contested today.
I acknowledge the inhumane treatment inflicted upon this Land’s Indigenous peoples by settlers and the government of Canada.
I recognize the genocide that has occurred over the last 200 years and continues to this day.
As a resident on this territory, I am committed to learning to be a better ally. I respect the cultures and traditions of the Nations and honor the relationship Indigenous Peoples have with the Land and their Communities, which is based on Respect, Responsibility, and Reciprocity.
Acknowledging the land is a first step toward Reconciliation.
In the spirit of honoring Indigenous Peoples’ traditions, I would like to invite you to donate to the Anishnawbe Health Foundation to support their important work in reclaiming their Traditional Healing Practices.
